Who We Help

Children newborn to age 17 who need a safe place to stay - for any reason - can come to Kids in Crisis, free of charge.

Kids in Crisis provides temporary shelter for Connecticut children who:

  • Are abused, abandoned, neglected or are otherwise not safe in their homes
  • Are displaced from their homes for any reason, such as fire or eviction
  • Have a parent or guardian facing medical hardship who can’t care for them
  • Need a safe place to stay for any reason

What We Offer

Kids in Crisis offers comprehensive, temporary emergency shelter located in Cos Cob. The shelter is licensed by the State of Connecticut and is open to infants, young children and teens. This home is complete with a fully-staffed, state-of-the-art medical clinic, provide therapeutic care in a safe, nurturing environment for up to 12 children at any one time.

Children staying at Kids in Crisis receive:

  • Housing and meals in a homelike setting
  • Medical care
  • Educational support and transportation to their own school if it is in the child’s best interest
  • Emotional assistance through individual and group therapy
  • Family support
